TREE OF ETERNAL LOVE (Kiik, kirves ja Igavese Armastuse Puu)
Meel Paliale, Estonia, 2021
82 minutes, In Estonian with English Subtitles
North American Premiere

One broken relationship, two friends, one road trip = a quest to heal a heart. When Kiik's girlfriend falls in love with a handsome stranger, he is devastated. As he agonizes the break up, he gets fixated on one thing that will solve all his problems - the tree on which he carved his and his ex's names in a in a fit of clichéd naiveté. Surely, if the tree is cut down, and with it the evidence of their eternal love, then he will be able to move on!

To help him with this task, he enlists his friend, filmmaker Eerik. Together, they set out on a quirky, Wes Anderson-esque road trip across Estonia sprinkled with humor, odd characters, and a touch of criminal activity. Tree of Eternal Love is the feature debut by a new generation Estonian filmmakers: Meel Paliale and Urmet Piiling.
