Zane and Kaspars, a couple in their late 30s, seem to have it all—love, careers, a house and shared hobbies. But despite trying for several years, they have been unable to have a child. After exploring clinics, diets, churches and healers, Kaspars is slowly coming to terms with the idea that life can be fulfilling even without children. But for Zane—a former professional swimmer who has been trained since childhood to win—the idea of not becoming a mother is unacceptable. And with her 40s approaching, there’s no time to waste. As she goes to grueling lengths to meet her target, her relationship with Kaspars grows increasingly strained, and Zane must question her role within her family and in society.
Director bio:
Linda Olte is a Latvian director, writer and editor. After many years at Latvian National Television—where she contributed to numerous successful programs, documentaries, and series—she collaborated with several Latvian film studios as both director and editor. A recipient of National Film Awards for Best Editing and Best Director, Linda centers humanity in her work, crafting sensitive, socially engaged stories that prioritize authentic, emotionally resonant characters.
